Granola is similar to muesli and is usually made using rolled oats, dried fruit, seeds and chopped nuts. Some granola also contains honey or maple syrup to sweeten it, so just be careful you’re not choosing one with too much added sweetness.

Sweeteners such as honey or maple syrup are considered healthier than normal white table sugar, but they still contain other sugars and are therefore fairly calorific. If you then want to add some sweetness, drizzle on honey or maple syrup so that you’re in control.

Unsweetened dairy yogurt provides protein and calcium, but if you avoid dairy or you’re vegan, there are dairy free alternatives made using soya milk or milk made from nuts such as almond milk. (Honey isn’t technically vegan so use maple syrup if you want sweetness and to keep things plant-based.)

Blueberries are nutritional powerhouses as they’re packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants – so much so, they’re considered one of the ultimate superfoods!
